MCG Photography is a husband and wife photography team based outside of Summerville, South Carolina, working primarily across Charleston, Kiawah Island and the surrounding Lowcountry. Corrie and James met in a darkroom at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara in 2001, eloped to Las Vegas, and eventually found their way to Charleston, a city that, by their own account, had them at hello. They have been photographing its weddings, couples, and families ever since.
Their approach sits at the intersection of what they call form and freedom: the craft and intention of a trained eye working alongside an instinct for the unguarded moment. The result is imagery that feels both effortless and alive, formal where the occasion calls for it, candid everywhere else, and always rooted in the specific personality of the people in front of the lens.
Corrie brings a background in movement and dance to how she works, keeping couples at ease, reading the energy of a space, and creating the kind of relaxed atmosphere where genuine moments become possible. James comes to photography from a lifelong fascination with light, place, and the way a single frame can hold a world. Together, their clients consistently describe the experience as kind, intentional, and marked by a genuine peacefulness that carries through into the work itself.
The Lowcountry is where their cameras feel most at home. The streets of Charleston, the marsh light at Kiawah, the quiet ceremony venues tucked into the coastal landscape. They work this region with the familiarity of people who chose it deliberately and have never stopped noticing what makes it worth photographing.
